Welcome to Latitude 53, producing photographic art and providing photographic services from Headingley, Leeds, West Yorkshire - 53.48 degrees north of the equator.  My name is Andrew Helm and I own and operate Latitude 53.

Photography is my passion and in particular the use of photography as artwork.  Over the past few years we have, I believe, begun to think of artwork in our homes and businesses as something that should blend in and not offend anyone's tastes.  This has led to an increasing level of bland artwork in our environments. You know what I'm talking about - abstract shapes or swirls on box canvas.

Artwork should stimulate!  Those who insist on such 'inoffensive art' miss the point that good artwork is something that rewards repeated viewing, that can reveal itself over time.  Within this website you will find a gallery containing hundreds of images that I have drawn together (and continue to augment) that I hope meet the aim of stimulating the viewer, creating a mood and generally lifting the environment in which they are placed.

The photo images have been captured locally here in Headingley, Leeds and West Yorkshire and much further afield, including India, mainland Europe and Central America.

The gallery is expanding and I have uploaded almost 100 images to date.  A shopping cart facility will arrive soon allowing prints to be ordered online.
